Mining - responsibility at the source

Securing raw materials. Strengthening partnerships. Enabling the future.

Mining is the first step in every raw materials value chain - and one of the most sensitive. GCG sees mining as more than just extraction: for us, it means taking responsibility. Together with selected partners, we develop strategically relevant raw materials such as lithium, cobalt, copper and rare earths - with a focus on quality, transparency and sustainability. We create secure, controllable access to critical raw materials and thus make a direct contribution to European security of supply.

Our approach: responsibility, partnership, efficiency

Global development - locally anchored

We work directly with mining companies and production facilities in resource-rich regions such as South America, Africa and Eastern Europe. Through local partnerships, cultural sensitivity and technical support, we enable stable and reliable extraction - tailored to the requirements of European customers.

Example: "Our partnership with a Chilean lithium producer ensures that our customers have long-term access to certified material - fully traceable."

Responsible sourcing - responsibility starts at the source

Sustainable procurement is not an add-on for GCG, but a basic requirement. We follow a strict responsible sourcing framework in accordance with the principles of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the EITI and other international standards. This means: systematic risk analyses, transparent proof of origin, involvement of local communities, exclusion of non-compliant suppliers - and close cooperation with partners who actively implement environmental, social and governance criteria.

Example: "In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we are supporting an audit program to improve working conditions in small-scale mining - in collaboration with NGOs and local authorities."

Example: "Our partnership with a Chilean lithium producer ensures that our customers have long-term access to certified material - fully traceable."

Long-term supply through strategic off-take models

We structure, support and finance long-term purchase agreements - from exploration projects to production. This enables us to offer our industrial customers stable supply relationships, predictable volumes and transparent contract structures. At the same time, we support producers with technical know-how, market intelligence and access to European customers.

Sustainability & ESG integration

Our mining activities are part of a comprehensive ESG strategy. We evaluate projects not only according to economic criteria, but also according to environmental impact, social impact and governance standards. Together with our partners, we promote projects with added value: from biodiversity protection to educational initiatives. Our supply chains are digitally documented and can be fully audited on request.
