Sustainable transportation and logistics
Transportation is a key element of the raw materials supply chain - but it is also one of the biggest sources of emissions worldwide. We are therefore working hard to make our logistics more sustainable. Our strategy is clear: wherever possible, we rely on rail instead of road, promote combined transport and cooperate with shipping companies that use energy-efficient ships and certified, safe tankers.
Each transport route is evaluated in terms of its environmental impact. We optimize loading volumes, avoid empty runs and support the switch to low-emission drives and alternative fuels. The result: fewer emissions, greater safety and a responsible, global supply chain.
Responsible use of resources and recycling
The life cycle of raw materials must not end with their use. That is why we actively integrate recycling and reprocessing processes into our business model. In cooperation with certified recycling companies and recyclers, we extend the useful life of raw materials and reduce the need for new subsidies.
Our approach follows a closed-loop system: valuable materials are reused, landfill waste is reduced and limited resources are conserved - especially in critical areas such as metals and rare earths, where scarcity and environmental risks are particularly high.
Environmentally conscious procurement and standards in mining
We only work with suppliers and producers who meet strict environmental standards. Our partner network undergoes a due diligence process that takes into account environmental performance in the areas of mining, production, water and land consumption, waste management and risk management.
We support innovative approaches such as the use of renewable energies and digital monitoring systems in mining in order to minimize environmental impacts. We also promote measures for land restoration and the protection of biodiversity after the end of mining activities.

Reducing emissions along the entire value chain
The decarbonization of our industry is a key challenge that we are determined to tackle. We record our emissions (Scope 1, 2 and - where possible - 3) and rely on measurable strategies to reduce emissions. From energy-efficient offices and digitalized processes to optimized transport routes and the choice of lower-emission means of transport - every step counts.
We are also examining the targeted use of CO₂ offsetting in collaboration with certified providers. However, our focus is on long-term, structural reductions through innovation and investment in clean technologies.
